The Town has been informed that Scott Carton has filed a complaint against it in federal court as a result of the Town's selection of another firefighter instead of him for promotion to the rank of lieutenant. Given the pending nature of the litigation, the Town will not be commenting on the matter at this time except to deny any allegations by Mr. Carton that the Town's failure to promote him was in any way improper or unlawful and to note that the promotion issue was already the subject of an appeal filed by Mr. Carton with the Civil Service Commission and the Commission recently ruled in the Town's favor.
