Waltham Couple Caught Breaking into Apartments in Watertown

The two broke into apartments on Waverley Avenue, and were caught in the building.

Police arrested a couple from Waltham after they had allegedly broken into apartments on Waverley Avenue on Oct. 14 at 10:33 p.m. 

A witness spotted a woman trying to break into an apartment, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn.

"The witness spotted a woman shouldering an apartment door (trying to break the door open)," Lawn said.

Officers found a woman, identified as Carol Ann Cotoni of Waltham, Lawn said. A second suspect was seen fleeing a second apartment. He was identified as Joseph Stallings of Waltham, and was later apprehended.

The two had broken into empty apartments, Lawn said.

Carol Ann Cotoni, 47, of 300 Lake St. in Waltham, was arrested on a charge of breaking and entering a building at night, Lawn said. Joseph Stallings, 33, of 185 Willow St. in Waltham, was arrested on charges of breaking and entering a building at night and domestic assault and battery, Lawn said
