Watertown Fire Log: Sept. 19 to Sept. 25

Three people stuck in an elevator, open burning and a small fire.

Sept. 19, 9:10 p.m.: Firefighters responded to a call about a bird in a house on School Street. Firefighters found a small sparrow in a bedroom, caught the bird and released it outside.

Sept. 20, 4:32 p.m.: A two-car accident occurred on Coolidge Avenue. The driver of one car was taken to Mt. Auburn Hospital with a minor hand burn from an airbag deploy. The driver of the other car refused transport to the hospital.

Sept. 22, 3:28 p.m.: Open burning was reported in a backyard on Phillps Street. The owner did not have a permit for burning and was directed to extinguish the fire.

Sept. 23, 6:25 p.m.: A car accident occured on Galen Street at Nonantum Road. A man was taken to Mt. Auburn Hospital with injuries.

Sept. 24, 5:22 p.m.: Three women were reported stuck in a stalled elevator in a residential building on Mt. Auburn Street. An object stuck in the elevator doors was preventing the elevator from working. The object was removed and the elevator then appeared to be working.

Sept. 25, 2:57 p.m.: Light smoke was reported at a two-story home on Hersom Street. The residents smelled smoke on the second floor. Firefighters found a small fire in a light fixture on the second floor, and a small area of wood and the light fixture was burned. The fire was extinguished.
