Watertown Man Allegedly Assaulted Disabled Neighbor and Her Dog

A man faces animal cruelty and assault and battery on a disabled person charges after a dispute with a person living in the same house on Union Street.

Police responded to the incident on July 30 at 1:28 a.m. The man, identified as Edward Thompson, allegedly pushed a neighbor, who is disabled, and also pushed a small dog out of the way, sending it down a flight of stairs, said Watertown Police Sgt. Thomas Grady.

Edward D. Thompson, 47, of 77 Union St. in Watertown, was arrested on charges of assault and battery on a disabled person, animal cruelty and was taken into protective custody.
