Watertown Man Arrested for Assault with BB Gun in Brighton

The 49-year-old was spotted pulling a gun out of a duffel bag on Commonwealth Avenue.

Boston Police arrested a Watertown man who allegedly pulled out a BB gun while walking on Commonwealth Avenue in Brighton.

At about 8:39 a.m., on Sunday, Feb. 26, a witness told officers from District D-14 precinct in Brighton they had seen a man with a gun at the intersection of Commonwealth and Harvard avenues.

The witness said the man pulled a large, black handgun out of a duffel bag, according to a Boston Police report. The witness left the area.

A description of the suspect was broadcast to Boston Police, and and officer spotted a man fitting the description in the area of 190 Harvard Ave. who had a BB gun. The witness went to the area and positively identified the suspect, according to Boston Police.

Another witness said she saw the man pulled the BB gun out and pointed it at taxis at a nearby taxi stand, according to Boston Police.

The suspect, Paul Lugumira, 49, of Watertown, was arrested for assault with a Dangerous Weapon – a gun, according to Boston Police.
