Watertown Man Arrested After Trying to Trade Fake Marijuana for a TV

The man traded oregano for a television, but the victim of the ruse called police.

A Watertown man tried to trade marijuana for a television, but when the victim discovered it was not the drug he called police.

Daniel Reilly, 19 of 14 Green St. in Watertown, allegedly traded the fake drugs on Nov. 29 at 5:07 p.m., said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn.

"He exchaged two bags of marijuana to a resident of a group home on Green Street," Lawn said. "The man discovered it was actually oregano and reported it to police."

Reilly was placed under arrest, Lawn said, for receiving stolen property worth more than $250, as well as intimidating a witness. He allegedly told the victim not to call police, Lawn said.
