Watertown Man Faces Fifth OUI Charge

Man was allegedly involved in a hit and run accident.

Police tracked down a driver allegedly responsible for a hit and run accident on Edenfield Avenue, and arrested him what would be his fifth drunken driving offense.

A Honda was sideswiped while parked on Edenfield Avenue and the driver left the area at June 30 at 6:13 p.m., said Watertown Police Sgt. Thomas Grady.

“The suspect fled the scene, but was observed by a witness turning right onto Bemis Street and again onto Westminster Avenue,” Grady said.

Police tracked the car to an address on Westminster Avenue, Grady said, and officers determined the driver was under of the influence of alcohol during the accident, Grady said.

Richard E. Kantor, 56, of 30 Westminster Ave. in Watertown was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol – a fifth offense, leaving the scene of property damage and a warrant from Waltham District Court for leaving the scene of property damage.
