Watertown Man Killed in Accident on Rte. 2 in Lexington

The 28-year-old struck a guardrail at a high rate of speed, State Police said.

The following information was released by the Massachusetts State Police:

At 11:56 Monday night, troopers assigned to the State Police Barracks in both Concord and Brighton responded to a single-vehicle crash on Rte. 2 westbound, prior to Exit 54, in Lexington. The crash resulted in one fatality.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Chester Adams indicates that Anthony L. Signoretti, 28, of Watertown, was operating a 2008 Toyota Scion sedan westbound when the vehicle struck the guardrail at an extremely high rate of speed, causing the vehicle to roll over. Signoretti was ejected from his car and sustained life-threatening injures. Signoretti, the lone occupant, was transported to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, where he succumbed to his injuries this morning.

The facts and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by Troop A of the Massachusetts State Police with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Lexington Police and Fire Department. Rte. 2 westbound was closed for approximately three hours during the course of the investigation.
