Watertown Police Log: April 23 to April 29

The following arrest information was supplied by the Watertown Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Arrests

April 23, 10:55 a.m.: Police were alerted that a man in town had an outstanding arrest warrant, said Watertown Police Sgt. Thomas Grady. Police arrested Marshell P. Carter, 34, of 480 Main St. in Watertown, was arrested on a warrant from Orange District Court for a probation violation.

April 25, 7:38 p.m.: Police stopped a car on Main Street at Spring Street after doing a registration check and found that the vehicle was not registered, Grady said. Police discovered the driver also had no license, was uninsured and had a warrant out for his arrest. Police arrested Luciano G. Calderon, 31, of 231 Webster St. in Newton, was arrested on charges of driving with a revoked registration, unlicensed driving, driving an unregistered motor vehicle, driving an uninsured motor vehicle and a warrant from Dudley District Court for unlicensed driving.

Incidents

April 24, 12:28 p.m.: A Birch Road resident reported that someone took jewelry, a jug full of change and other items from his home sometime between April 1 and April 24, Grady said. Police are investigating the incident.

April 24, 2:43 p.m.: A woman at the customer service counter at on Watertown Street noticed her wallet was missing, but a woman came over an said she found the wallet, Grady said. When the owner of the wallet checked she found a $100 gift card from Target and a $50 gift card from Bloomingdale’s were missing. Police looked at security video from the store and saw a woman pick up the wallet, looked inside and returned it to the woman before getting into a taxi cab and leaving. Police tracked down the woman and found she had the gift cards. She admitted to taking them and returned them, and the wallet’s owner agreed not to press charges, Grady said.

April 24, 4:04 p.m.: The owner of Bostonian Towing reported that over the past few weeks his tow trucks have been vandalized while parked in a lot on Irving Street, Grady said. On April 8, April 15 and April 22, a total of 11 tires on three trucks were slashed, causing $2,100 in damages. Police are investigating.

April 25, 11:55 a.m.: A Sycamore Street resident said someone took $8 from her purse, Grady said. She said her daughter had recently brought home a friend she met in Harvard Square to stay at their home for a couple days.

April 25, 6:03 p.m.: A janitor at the put his HTC cell phone down and when he came back it was gone, Grady said. The janitor said he put it down either in the cafeteria or an office.

April 27, 11:51 a.m.: The owner of a 2005 Toyota Prius discovered a large gouge mark and yellow paint rubbed off on the roof of the car and that the back window had been shattered, Grady said. Police spoke to a couple of men doing work in the area who said they saw a dump truck with a yellow wood chipper spout hanging off to the side drive by, but they did not see the accident. Police continue to investigate.

April 27, 12:41 a.m.: Someone tried to break into a Norsman Avenue home, a resident reported to police, Grady said. Although the resident did not hear anything, a window screen had been cut near the latch that locks the window. Police are investigating the incident.
