Watertown Police Log: Woman Stole $50K from Store, Friendly's Missing Ice Cream and Milk

Arrests

July 11, 6:44 a.m.: Police served a probation warrant on Everett Avenue, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. Jason Iannazzi, 33, of 77 Everett Ave. in Watertown, was arrested on the probation warrant.

July 12, 3:22 p.m.: A Billerica woman allegedly tried to leave without paying for two lithium batteries worth $98 each, Lawn said. Amy Hill, 31, of 5 Jay Road in Billerica, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting, a second offense.

July 13, 9:46 p.m.: security spotted a woman putting two pairs of shoes, jewelry and sunglasses in a bag and tried to leave without paying, Lawn said. Faten Mukarker, 56, of 20 Park Road in Belmont, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting.

July 15, 9:30 a.m.: A man stood in the middle of Green Street yelling and screaming, and when police arrived the man would not move and appeared to be under the influence of some substance, Lawn said. After trying to get the man to stop yelling, police arrested him. Christopher Gropper, 47, homeless, was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct.

 

Incidents

July 11, 3:28 p.m.: After an internal audit, officials at in the accused a former employee of taking over $50,000 over the past four years by doing fraudulent cash returns, Lawn said. The 31-year-old woman from Dorchester admitted to stealing the money and will be summonsed to Waltham District Court on a charge of larceny over $250.

July 9, 11:59 a.m.: A visitor parking sign at was scratched and vandalized by a metallic object, Lawn said.

July 9, 1:54 p.m.: employees discovered the store was missing 55 gallons of ice cream and milk over the past two weeks, Lawn said. Friendly’s employees and Watertown Police are investigating.

July 9, 4:57 p.m.: A woman told police her son’s bicycle was stolen while they were at , Lawn said. They put the bike down while he played soccer and when they returned, the silver and red Trix-brand bicycle was gone.

July 10, 6:03 p.m.: A purse was taken out of a shopping cart at , Lawn said. The purse contained $300 in cash, a credit card, a debit card, a driver’s license, car keys and a cell phone. A store security video may help identify a suspect.

July 11, 10:58 a.m.: A man reported his wallet was stolen while he was at the , Lawn said. The man put it on the counter when he was at the RMV and walked away. He realized it was missing but when he went back it was gone.
