The Watertown Police Dept. is holding a free self defense class for women, in four sessions starting Nov. 7.
The Rape Aggression Defense System, known as the R.A.D. System, teaches women techniques on being assertive, aware of risks, reducing risks, avoidance and physical defense strategies, according to a press release.
The class meets twice per week for two weeks, with sessions scheduled for Nov. 7, 8, 14 and 15, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The class will be held at the Tufts Health building, 705 Mt. Auburn St.
The class is free for Watertown women over the age of 18. Those under age 18 are permitted with a signed waiver from a parent. Class size is limited and will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
The deadline to register is Nov. 2, and may be completed by calling Watertown Police Det. Kathleen Donohue at 617-972-6545.
