Watertown Police Warn Residents to Lock Windows After Recent Break in

An elderly woman was robbed while she was home on May 15, a crime similar to other recent break ins.

Watertown Police warn residents they should close and lock their windows after a recent breaking on Church Street where someone broke in and took jewelry while the resident was at home.

Watertown Police sent out an automated phone message to town residents Wednesday, reporting a break in reported on May 16, which likely occured on May 15, according to the message, which was approved by Chief Edward Deveau.

According to the message, the incident is similar to previous incidents where someone cut a screen and got in through a window and took jewelry while the resident was home. Police suspect the person is targeting elderly residents.

On March 19  and on the same night an Acton Street home was robbed, both while the residents were home.

In all three incidents screens were cut to gain entry, Police said.
