Belmont Woman Arrested on OUI Charge After Leaving Path of Destruction on Watertown Roads

Watertown Police arrested a Belmont woman after she allegedly destroyed a crosswalk warning barrel before being pulled over for driving on a deflated tire.

An officer patrolling on Main Street by Waverley Avenue pulled over a woman identified as 25-year-old Marguerite J. Conley, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn.

"The officer observed a Honda Accord travellling at a high rate of speed with a front tire that had been shredded," Lawn said.

The officer pulled the car over on Waverley Avenue and smelled a strong odor of alcohol on Conley's breath, Lawn said. Field sobriety tests were performed, and Conely was placed under arrest. 

Across town, on Mt. Auburn Street, another police officer discovered a car bumper in the middle of the street and a crosswalk warning barrel that has been destroyed and "scattered through the roadway," Lawn said.

Police investigated and linked the bumper to Conley, Lawn said. 

Marguerite J. Conley, 25, of 134 Bartlett Ave. in Belmont, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, an equipment violation and leaving the scene of property damage, Lawn said.
