You Can Dispose of Medicine at the Watertown Police Station

The Police Department is joining the Middlesex Drug Take-Back Program.

If you have unused and unwanted medication you can dispose of it at the Watertown Police Station, and help keep your family and the community safe.

A disposal bin has been placed in the lobby of the , 552 Main St. The lobby is open 24 hours a day.

Abuse of prescription and over-the-counter medications by youth is on the rise because they are easily accessible in many homes.

According to the 2006 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) more than 2.1 million teens ages 12 to 17 reported abusing prescription drugs, according to the Middlesex District Attorney's Office.

Properly disposing the medications also helps the environment by reducing the carbon footprint.

Here are the medications that can be disposed of at the Watertown Police Station:

  • Prescription & Over-the-Counter Medications
  • Vitamins
  • Medication Samples
  • Veterinary Medications
  • Narcotics

Items that cannot be disposed of at the Police Station:

  • Needles (any type)
  • IV Bags
  • Personal Care Products
  • Hydrogen Peroxide
  • Inhalers
  • Thermometers & Other Mercury Items
  • Empty Containers (these are safe to dispose of in your regular recyling bin).
