The town will unveil the new recycling center on Stanley Avenue this week.

The center was constructed on the Westside of Watertown after being located in the East End for decades.

On Friday, July 12, the new center opens with a ceremony hosted by the Department of Public works.

While the center’s address is 76 Stanley Ave., vehicles enter the center from Green River Way, one street east off Waltham Street.

The ceremony will be held at 8:45 a.m., with a ribbon cutting and coffee for those in attendance.

The center will be open Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Town Councilors voted to move the recycling center to Stanley Avenue from the old site on Grove Street in July 2012. The move was made, in part, because the old site violated an agreement with the state and federal governments over funding given to the town to build Filippello Park on the old Watertown landfill.
