Snow Storm Cancels Watertown Inauguration Ceremony

Elected officials will be sworn in at a later date.

Thursday's Watertown Inauguration Ceremony has been canceled due to the snow storm.

Town Council President Mark Sideris sent out the following announcement on Thursday morning:

Please be advised that due to the weather we are experiencing and what is forecast for later, the inauguration ceremony for tonight has been canceled. We will have a smaller swearing in for all elected officials at 6pm on Jan. 14 in the council chamber.

Also, be advised that the newly elected members of the town council, school committee, and the library trustees can be sworn in at the town clerks office during business hours. The newly elected members need to be sworn in before their first meeting. The officials who were re-elected do not need to be sworn in unless they choose to do so. They are considered carryovers and can be sworn in on the 14th of Jan.

Sorry about not being able to go forward with the ceremony.

Mark Sideris
