Town Council Will Look at Ways to Improve Dangerous Intersection

The Public Works subcommittee will look at the intersection of Common, Orchard and Church streets in Watertown.

After yet another accident at the intersection of Common, Orchard and Church streets neighbors have lobbied the Watertown Town Council to do something to make the intersection safer.

Last week, Councilor John Donohue requested that the issue be referred to the Public Works subcommittee after he was approached by residents living near the intersection.

The wide intersection a few blocks from Watertown Square includes Common Street, which comes down a steep hill with no stop signs from Belmont in one direction. Cars feed in from Orchard and Church streets after stopping at stop signs, and potentially cross each other, as well as the traffic going up and down Common Street.

Seeing other cars can also be difficult because views can be blocked by houses and other objects.
