Town Will Take Styrofoam Items at Watertown Recycling Center

The Department of Public Works will accept items on Jan. 11 and 18.

The Watertown Department of Public Works will accept styrofoam and other items at a recycling event on Jan. 11 and 18.

The items will be taken at the Watertown Recycling Center, 76 Stanley Ave. (accessible from Green River Way off Waltham Street) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Items that will be accepted (all items must be clean): coffe cups, food containers, foam plates, coolers, foam egg cartons, rinsed school trays, styrofoam cups, meat and produce trays stamped with the #6 recycle sympbol, packing block, white insulation board. 

What CANNOT be accepted: styrofoam cups with paper attached, colored insulation board, expanding board, cardboard, foam sheets, bubble wrap, all peanuts, soft foam, ground meat packaging, plastic cutlery, pipe insulation, soft styrofoam that bounces back, and biodegradable packing peanuts.
