Ernie Boch Jr., Hard Rock Cafe Bring Music To Watertown

The Watertown High School guitar class got a special visitor who brought some presents for them.

The program was in need of some guitars, said WHS band leader Dan Jordan.

"We have just enough for the class but a fee guitars are just about unplayable," Jordan said.

He put out word that the school was looking for guitars to be donated - new or used.

His request was answered by Ernie Boch Jr. and his foundation - Music Drives Us - and the Hard Rock Cafe. Four new guitars were presented to the school Thursday by Boch and Dayna Brunelli, sales and marketing manger for the Hard Rock Cafe Boston.

Boch said he looks for places in need around the Boston area and New England.

"The idea we can bring guitars to schools that will use them and appreciate them - that's a great thing," Boch said.

Jordan said he was pleasantly surprised by the donation.

"We will use them right away," Jordan said. "The kids really like it."

Music Drives Us has given away almost $1 million. It will host a fund raiser Nov. 9 at Ferrari of New England in Norwood, and the Boston Music Awards on Dec. 8. Find out more at www.musicdrivesus.org.
