See How Watertown Students Fared on the 2013 MCAS Test

Watertown students scored better that the state average in some tests and lower and others.

Watertown students scored around the same as the state average on the 2013 MCAS exams, with the district scoring slightly above or slightly below the state average, depending on the grade and subject.

In the 10th grade, where the test must be passed to graduate, all but two percent in English and Science & Technology, and 9 percent in Math passed on the first try.

Districtwide, Watertown fared best Science & Technology, where 72 percent of students scored in Advanced or Proficient (the top to categories). English was close behind with 68 percent of students in the district in Advanced or Proficient (the top to categories). In Math, 59 percent of students in the district were Advanced or Proficient.

At Watertown Middle School, 71 percent scored in Advanced or Proficient in English and 59 percent in Math.

The highest math scores in the elementary schools was at the Lowell, where 63 percent were in Advanced and Proficient, while 64 percent were in the top two categories in English. At the Hosmer, 57 percent were in Advanced or Proficient in English and 50 percent in Math. The Cunniff had 52 percent of students in Advanced or Proficient in English and 59 percent in Math.
