The students showed their knowledge in the competition in Malden.

Students from Watertown Middle School earned the second place trophy at the Quiz Bowl competition at Malden Catholic High School, reports Watertown Splash, the WMS newspaper.

The seven member team, coached by sixth-grader English teacher Kara Conceison, was one of three schools to advance to the final round from the original pool of 13.

Students were tested on questions written by Malden Catholic students, including:  How much trash does the EPA estimate the average household produce everyday?; and How much power does a recycled aluminum can generate?
