Watertown Rolls in First Field Hockey Tournament Game

The Raiders hosted Lynnfield in the North Section quarterfinal.

Lynnfield did what only two others have done this year against the Watertown field hockey team, but it was far from enough to overcome the four-time defending champs.

Watertown rolled to a 7-1 victory in the MIAA Div. 2 North Section quarterfinal Friday afternoon at Victory Field. Rachel Campbell led the Raiders with a hat trick, scoring the first, fourth and seventh goals of the afternoon.

The Raiders also got goals from Emily Loprete, Kourtney Kennedy and Michaela Antonellis.

Lynnfield struggled to get the ball into the Watertown half, and did not have a shot on goal in the first half.

In the second half, Lynnfield found its stride and got a fast break and after sliding save by the Watertown goalie several yards out of the goal, Lynnfield got the ball back and Bailey Fanikos scored.

The Raiders improved to 19-0 and will take on the winner of the Swampscott-Tewksbury game next week. Lynnfield ended the season with a record of 11-6-3.
