What Kinds of Teachers Would You Add to the Watertown Schools?

As the School Committee puts together the budget they are considering adding new teaching positions in the town schools.

After cutting teaching jobs over the past few years, Watertown school officials now have the chance of adding more positions to the town's schools, but they have not decided where.

In recent years, the schools have lost some music teachers and other positions, and those could be replaced. Another proposal is to have a drama teacher for the middle and high schools.

School officials have no choice in filling some positions. The district must hire teachers to teach students whose first language is not English because the district does not have enough to meet the state requirement.

Some have pressed for classroom teachers to be hired to make sure that class sizes do not get too large.
