Home Sweet Home for the Raiders Football Team

Watertown had a successful home opener against Shawsheen.

Watertown opened the home football season with a 19-7 win over Shawsheen on Friday night at Victory Field.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Raiders jumped to a 13-0 halftime lead after touchdown run by Mike Petrillo and a 61-yard punt return for touchdown by TJ Hariston, according to a Lowell Sun report. The extra point failed.

Shawsheen closed the gap to six in the fourth quarter, but Watertown quarterback Nick Giordano completed a 59-yard drive with a 6-yard touchdown run.

Watertown takes on Middlesex League foe Stoneham on Friday night at 7 p.m. at Victory Field.
