Patriots Honor Watertown Football Coach for Playoff Win

John Cacace was named coach of the week for the Raiders performance last weekend.

The Watertown football team earned their first ever playoff victory on Nov. 1, a win that earned coach John Cacace the Patriot's High School Coach of the Week award.

Trailing 15-14 after three quarters, the Raiders scored 17 points in the final frame to earn their first playoff victory in school history. In recognition of the win, the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation will donate $1,000 to Watertown High School’s football program in Cacace’s name.

On Wednesday, the team got a special visit from former Patriots and Pro Hall of Famer Andre Tippett, who is the team's executive director of community affairs. The visit was filmed and will be featured on the Patriots weekly television magazine show, “Patriots All Access,” which airs at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, on WBZ-TV Channel 4 in Boston. I can be see afterward on Patriots.com.

“Congratulations to Coach John Cacace and his team,” Tippett said.  “Watertown High School showed great mental toughness by erasing a fourth-quarter deficit against a talented Triton team to earn the first playoff victory in the history of their program. This was a historic win for the Raiders.”

This is the 18th year of the Patriots High School Coach of the Week award. At the end of the season, one high school coach will be named the New England Patriots High School Coach of the Year and will receive an additional $2,000 contribution toward the school’s football program.
