Watertown Boys' Basketball Team Victorious in First Round of State Tourney

The Raiders defeated Northeast Regional to set up a showdown with top seeded North Reading.

Watertown's boys' basketball team came in with an equal record as their first round opponent in the state tournament - Northeast Regional - and as a lower seed, but the Raiders showed they which team was best by routing the hosts.

Kevin Ditietrantonio scored 19 points for the Raiders and PJ Hairson added another 17 points in Watertown's 80-53 win Wednesday night in Wakefield, according to a report on Boston.com.

Next up for Watertown is North Reading, the undefeated and top seeded team in the North Section Div. 3 tournament. The Raiders play the section quarterfinal at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, at North Reading.
