Watertown Native Named College Field Hockey Player of the Week

Watertown High School grad Lauren Giordano has made a mark at Stonehill in her sophomore season.

The Northeast 10 Conference named Watertown's Lauren Giordano the field hockey player of the week for her play with Stonehill College.

The Watertown High School grad scored six points, including three goals, in the Skyhawks two wins against No. 9 Bentley University and Assumption College. Giordano, a sophomore, has helped Stonehill reach a record of 10-0 and a No. 4 ranking in NCAA Div. II.

Giordano opened the week with a go-ahead goal in last Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win at Bentley. She posted her first career multi-goal game with a pair of first half markers in Friday night's 3-1 win over Assumption, according to the report by Stonehill College.

She did not play in any games during her freshman year, but this year Giordano is tied for third on the team in points this season with ten points and second on the team in goals with five.
