Watertown's Hurley Named NESCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

The Bowdoin College sophomore scored and average of 16 points in two wins.

Bowdoin sophomore Bryan Hurley of Watertown, has been named as the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

Hurley, who attended Boston College High School, recorded 16.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game in a 2-0 week for the Polar Bears. The guard scored a team-high 17 points in his team's dramatic 74-70 victory at Bates on Thursday. With the game knotted at 70-70 in overtime, he converted a bank-shot runner with 14 seconds left to give the Polar Bears the lead for good. Hurley followed that up with 15 points, seven boards and five assists, including his team's final four points, in a 64-58 win over Colby on Saturday.

Over the course of the week, he converted 52.2% (14-23) of his shots from the field and drained three shots from beyond the arc.

Hurley and the Polar Bears enter break having won four straight games and have a 5-2 record overall this season. Bowdoin will return to action on January 2 at Plymouth State before playing their NESCAC opener at home on January 4 against Hamilton.
