Watertown Sets Longest State Field Hockey Unbeaten Streak

The Raiders won the first two games of the season to set the new state mark.

Watertown's field hockey team set yet another mark in its storied history as the Raiders set the new record for longest unbeaten streak in Massachusetts high school history.

On Tuesday, Watertown defeated Arlington 2-0 with goals from Kourtney Kennedy and Emily Loprete, according to a report in the Boston Herald.

Coach Eileen Donahue's Raiders have not lost for 94 straight matches. Walpole held the previous record of 93 straight without defeat. Watertown tied that with a 4-0 win over Belmont on Saturday.

During the streak the team has won four straight Div. 2 state titles and only tied three games. Last year's graduating seniors never lost a game.

Watertown has the third longest streak in the nation, ever. Second on the list is Oklahoma City Cassidy School with 106 and the longest streak nationally is 153 set by Voorhees Eastern of New Jersey, according to Topofthecircle.com.

The team last lost on Nov. 12, 2008, to Hopkinton in a Div. 2 state semifinal.
