WHS Sports: Boys' Soccer Pulls Out Win, Girls' Season Ends

Also, see who the football and field hockey teams will face next in the state tournament.

Watertown advanced to the boys’ soccer North Section semifinal, but the win did not come easily.

The game was scoreless at halftime, and five minutes into the second the Raiders struck when Camille Sheehan scored off a pass from Dhmitri Dorceus.

Visiting Pentucket tied it up five minutes later, and nearly scored again minutes later.

Watertown controlled the ball most of the second half and had numerous chances but did not cash in until 17 minutes into the second half. Vardan Yeghiyan’s shot hit the far post, and Roman Davis tapped in the goal. The Raiders were able to hold off Pentucket and claim the win.

Watertown (15-2-2) plays the winner of the North Reading-Marblehead game on Wednesday at Chelmsford High School at 5 p.m.

Girls Soccer

The Raiders fell in the first round of the Div. 3 North tournament 1-0 at Hamilton-Wenham. Watertown finishes the season with a record of 4-12-3.

 

Football

The Raiders beat Triton Regional on Friday, 31-22, in the first round of the Div. 4 North football tournament. This week, Watertown (5-3) travels to face top-seed Pentucket (6-1) on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in West Newbury. Pentucket beat Hamilton-Wenham 32-0.

 

Field Hockey

Top seeded Watertown (19-0) will face fifth-seed Tewksbury (14-4-2) at Reading High School on Tuesday at 5 p.m. Watertown beat Lynnfield 7-1 on Friday and Tewksbury has defeated Gloucester and Swampscott.
