Watertown Savings Bank Team Raised $30,000 for the Relay for Life

The bank was the largest fundraiser in this year's Relay for Life, held at Victory Field.

The following information was provided by Watertown Savings Bank:

(WSB) has raised $30,000 for the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) event held June 8-9, at
in Watertown.

The WSB team held a number of fundraisers in 2012, including their most successful “A Night for a Cure” event at the Hellenic Center, which raised more than $14,000. Other fundraisers included an in-store fundraiser at Jenny Boston Boutique in Belmont and a restaurant night at Halfway Café in Watertown, where a percentage of total sales was donated to ACS; an employee cookbook for sale; and several casual-jeans days, where WSB employees who made a small donation to the ACS were allowed to wear jeans to work.

Said WSB team co-captain Lisa Nichols: “We had an incredible team of employees working hard to raise funds. I would be remiss if I didn’t thank the bank, our customers, the community, our friends, and family for all of their wonderful support and generosity. We could never have raised $30,000 without all of them.”

“Unfortunately, most of us have been touched by cancer at some point in our lives,”
commented Antonia O’Hara, WSB team co-captain. “It has been a very rewarding experience to be part of such a great team, helping to raise money for the ACS. We could not have been so successful if it weren’t for the generous support of our coworkers, family, and friends.”
