12U Raiders Improve To 4-0

The 12u Raiders took two games against Wellesley on the road. Destiny Santalucia picked up her second win of the season while Caroline Costa closed it out to preserve the win in a 16-11 contest. Every player on the Watertown team took part in the scoring.
The second game featured a pitcher's duel as the Raider's Christine MacLeod and the Wellesley player both pitched complete games going 6 innings a piece. Wellesley struck first by scoring 1 in the first and 3 in the second to take a 4-0 lead into the third. But the Raiders would not be denied and struck for 5 runs in the third to take a 5-4 lead. Scoring for Watertown were Jacqui Schwalm, MacLeod, Costa, Stephanie Laskaris and Santalucia. That would be it for the scoring as the pitchers from both teams fought for the next 3 innings to keep the batters at bay. Christine's gritty performance earned her an amazing 17 strikeouts in 6 innings of work!! That's 17 out of a possible 18 outs coming via the K. Also contributing to some solid defense in the field were Sarah Benites, Anna and Catherine Papayannopoulos, Ashley Nygren, Stella Papadopoulous, Claire Gabel, Kate Myler, and Amelia Doyle. Next up for the Watertown Raiders are two matchups with Newton.
