Your First Massage?

Are you new to massage? Or are you simply new to Massage Envy Spa? Here is what you can expect on your first visit.

When you arrive, you will be asked to fill out a massage wellness chart. Once completed, your massage therapist will go over the chart with you and ask what your current physical condition is, why you wanted/needed a massage that day and if there are any specific areas you would like the therapist to address during the massage.

Next, the massage therapist will take you to the treatment room. There you can disrobe to your comfort level, while the therapist waits outside. You will lay under a top sheet and a warming blanket. The top sheet will cover you throughout the massage, except for the area that the therapist is currently working on.

During the massage, the therapist will follow your lead on whether you wish to have a conversation or not. In addition, if a technique is uncomfortable or if anything else during the massage, such as lighting or temperature, needs to be changed, you should always let the massage therapist know.

Once your massage is over, the therapist will again leave the room while you get dressed. He or she will be waiting for you outside the door with water. Water is important after a massage because it flushes out the minerals that were released during your treatment. It also rehydrates your muscles and reduces potential soreness.

Remember, this is your massage.
