State Primary: Devaney wins Governor's Council Race, Tierney wins GOP Race for Congress

Watertown had a 11 percent turnout in Thursday's State Primary.

Watertown's Marilyn Devaney will run for her eighth term on the Governor's Council in November after winning the Democratic primary Thursday, while Tom Tierney won the chance to take on Ed Markey in the Congressional race. Devaney defeated Brookline's Harry Margolis and Newton's Charlie Shapiro in the race for the Third District of the Governor's Council. See how she won the race here. Framingham's Tom Tierney defeated two challengers - Frank Addivinola of Boston and Lexington's Jeff Semon - in the Republican primary for the 5th Congressional District. Candidates Jab Each Other; But Want to Knock Out Markey [VIDEO]

The Republican primary for the 5th Congressional District is Sept. 6.

Jeff Semon and Frank Addivinola both want to oust Rep. Ed Markey from his 5th Congressional District seat in Congress. "He's been in office since the year I was born," said Semon during Wednesday night's debate at the Trackside Grill in Ashland. The event was sponsored by the Ashland Republican Town Committee. The winner of the Sept. 6 Republican primary will face Markey in November. During the debate, the two Republicans took jabs at each other. Semon questioned how Addivinola thinks he can win when he lost a state senate race in 2010. Addivinola questioned how long Semon has lived in Massachusetts and his business background.
