Which is the Scariest Street to Drive on in Watertown?

Spring Street has had a couple of serious accidents recently, but other streets can be tricky to drive on. Which do you think is the worst?

Town Councilor Tony Palomba arrived late to Tuesday's budget hearing because he was delayed by a serious accident on Spring Street at Palfrey Street. Councilor Susan Falkoff said she spoke recently with a resident who got into a bad accident just a block down the same street at Marshall Street, recently. Spring Street comes off Main Street near Watertown Square and can be treacherous, but is it the scariest one to drive on in town? Police Chief Edward Deveau told the Town Council that residents of various streets in town complain about traffic or the speed of drivers on their street.  "We are always looking a that," Deveau said. "There is a lot of congestion in town and a lot of people using the back streets as cut throughs." Deveau noted …

Afternoon Snow Storm Makes Roads Slick, Causes Accidents

The afternoon snow fall coated the roads with a thin layer of snow, which was enough to make driving treacherous.

Slippery conditions caused by Monday's snowfall created hazardous road conditions around Watertown. Police and Fire personnel responded to several accidents starting at about 2:30 p.m. None had major injuries, but some clogged streets. An accident on Common Street at Belmont Street tied up traffic as police waited for a tow truck, according to the police scanner. On Arsenal Street, near the Watertown Mall, a car struck a curb and became disabled. A six-car accident was reported on North Beacon Street near the Perkins School, but it had cleared by the time police arrived. Just down the street, a driver reported being hit by a blue BMW, which then left the scene, police said. Department of Public Works trucks could be seen spreading sand and…
