Council Looking at Creating Town Hall Annex in Old Police Station
Subcommittee asked for survey of Watertown municipal departments to see if they have a need for more space, or a space reorganization.
Town Councilors on the Economic Development and Planning Committee want to explore whether to turn the old Police Station into a Town Hall annex. Tuesday night, the subcommittee discussed the future of the former station on Whooley Way. Councilors Steve Corbett, John Donohue and Susan Falkoff looked at the three options – keep the building, find a new tenant (to lease or sell to) or knock it down. "Obviously we wouldn't rent it if we had (municipal) needs for it," said Corbett, the subcommittee chairman. "Tearing it down, is that ridiculous?" "Yes," Falkoff responded.
