Watertown Community Path Continues to Be a Possibility
Shared bicycle and pedestrian path may go through heart of Watertown, but financial hurdles stand in the way.
In 2003, the Watertown Department of Public Works and the Watertown Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee completed the city's Bicycle Transportation Plan. To this day, however, construction of the central portion of the Watertown Community Path has yet to begin. Watertown officials remain interested in building this path for the community. A report was commissioned in May, and a Tufts University Urban, Environmental Policy & Planning Research Team developed a comprehensive report detailing the project's potential future. What stands in the way, however, is the lack of money.
