The Day for Billy O'Brien on Oct. 8 will raise money for the Boys & Girls Club 5K Road Race.
Saturday, Oct. 8, 21 Nickels Grille and Tap will remember Billy O'Brien and raise money to help one of his favorite causes – the Watertown Boys & Girls Club. O'Brien died 7 years ago of an aortic aneurysm at the age of 28. "Every year we do something to honor Billy," Gavin said. "He was really involved in the Boys and Girls Club, so we used to do a golf tournament. A lot of his friends are not golfers, so we try to include as many people as we can, so we are having an event." Driver allegedly fell asleep when he hit three cars and then ran into the building.
A Watertown man faces drunken driving charges after he allegedly hit three parked cars and damaged a fence and bushes at the Boys & Girls Club. On Sept. 3 at 10:40 p.m., an officer went to Whites Avenue after a report of an accident, and found a vehicle that had crashed up against the Boy & Girls Club on Whites Avenue, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. “It had struck three motor vehicles, and damaged bushes and a fence at the Boys & Girls Club,” Lawn said. The side of the Boys & Girls Club building also had some minor scrapes. The driver may have dozed off, Lawn said, and when the officer spoke to the driver, an odor of alcohol was detected on the man’s breath. Field sobriety tests were given, and the driver was placed under arrest, …
