Brownsberger: I Will 'Definitely' Run For Congress If Markey Wins

Belmont Democrat announced he would run for Congress if Markey wins the race for U.S. Senate.

  State Sen. Will Brownsberger has set his sights on Washington, if the opportunity to run for U.S. Congress arises.  Sen. Brownsberger told Patch on Friday that if current U.S. Rep. Markey wins John Kerry's Senate seat, he would launch a campaign to run for Markey's seat.  "Yes, definitely, if he is elected, I will be running for that seat," he said.  Brownsberger said that he hasn't always had his eye on running for Congress, but the possible opportunity to do so is too good to pass up.  "Honestly, I really love the job I have in the state senate and I feel very good about the work I'm doing there, and I'm making a lot of progress," he said. Do You Like the Fiscal Cliff Deal?

The agreement reached between the White House and Congress doesn't address spending cuts and leaves another potential debt limit showdown on the table. It also increases taxes on income over $400,000. Is this a deal that works for you?

After a marathon holiday negotiation session, after grumbling by liberal senators and after a near-revolt by conservative representatives, the fiscal cliff deal was approved by the House of Representatives late Tuesday night. The bargain will increase taxes on income above $450,000 for families, increase capital gains taxes, permanently fix the alternative minimum tax, change the estate tax and provide some changes in deductions. It also will extend unemployment benefits, earned income tax credits and other tax breaks for the working class. The Washington Post has a cheat sheet with all of the details.
