Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1105 will provide a meal for veterans on Dec. 2.
Veterans can enjoy a holiday meal from the Watertown Veterans of Foreign Wars on Sunday, Dec. 2, and it's free. The VFW Post 1105, located at 295 Arsenal St., will offer the veteran community a free holiday dinner. Post Commander Derek Mayerhofer said he wanted to help out some vets who he knew. "There are two World War II vets who have no family, so we said we have got to do something for them," Mayerhofer said. The dinner is open to any veteran and their families, said Gina Rada, Watertown's Veterans Agent. The dinner will be on December 2, 2012 at the VFW, from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.

Help showcase people who are doing great things in your community with our new feature, Count Us In.
Your neighbor who volunteers at the library, your child’s bus driver, and the Little League coach in your community may not seem to have much in common at first glance. But Patch’s new initiative, Count Us In, aspires to bring together all Good Samaritans by highlighting residents who are exemplary at making your community a more positive place. Do you know of someone helping the Watertown Schools, like the Friends of Watertown Music, or just lends a hand in a classroom. How about someone who coaches a youth sports team, or is raising money to fight cancer or another disease? Let us know and Patch can highlight them for Count Us In. Partnering with Harvard Pilgrim Health Care (HPHC), Count Us In aims to illustrate HPHC's values. They …

Thanks to gifts and advocacy from our student, parent and community supporters, the schools are restoring a 0.6 teaching position to the music program. The Friends of Watertown Music grant will be used to reinstate the Middle School Stage Band. Additionally, because of this newly funded teaching position, the school music programs…
