Belmont Savings, Mount Auburn Hospital to Provide Free Flu Shots

Influenza vaccine to be given Wednesday, Thursday, Jan. 16, 17 at Belmont Center branch.

The following Information was provided by Belmont Savings Bank:  Belmont Savings Bank is offering free flu shots Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 16 and 17, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at their main office in Belmont Center at 2 Leonard St. Mount Auburn Hospital will provide nurses to administer the vaccine.  “This flu season has already been one of the worst on record, and it is not too late get vaccinated.  We want to insure that everyone in our community has a convenient way to get a free flu shot,” said Bob Mahoney, President and CEO of Belmont Savings. “We approached Mount Auburn Hospital and they were thrilled to partner with us on this initiative,” he said. Flu Shots Running Out, but Some Still Available in Watertown

Some pharmacies have run out of the flu vaccine but those still in need can find them in town.

Flu shots have been hard to come by in the wake of the heavy flu season that has hit the Boston area, but there are some places in Watertown to get the vaccine. The two CVS Pharmacies in town report that they have run out of the vaccine, but the pharmacy at Target, in the Watertown Mall, still has some available. Residents can drop in and request it as long as it lasts. CVS will likely get more vaccine, so check back later this week. The Watertown Health Department still has some, too, and members of the staff will put on a flu clinic on Friday, Jan. 18. The free clinic will be held at the Watertown Free Public Library from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.  As long as the vaccine remains, the Health Department will also take walk in appointments on Friday…
