Trio from Watertown Will Continue Their Athletic Careers in College [Video]

The high school celebrated three of its athletes who signed letters of intent to play sports in college.

For many athletes, high school graduation means the end of competitive sports, but three Watertown High School seniors will take their game to the next level.  Field hockey players Alyssa Carlson and Lauren Sutherland and lacrosse player Danny Loprete signed letters of intent to play in college. On Thursday they were honored with a ceremony at the school attended by family, coaches and friends (see the video to the right to see some of the action). Carlson will head to Northeastern in the fall, where she will be reunited with her sister Katie, a current sophomore on the Huskies' field hockey team. "It's going to be fun," Carlson said. Watertown Field Hockey Captains, Boys Soccer Coach Honored by Boston Globe

Watertown field hockey players Lauren Sutherland and Alyssa Carlson made the Globe's All-Scholastic team, and the paper named boys' soccer coach Frank Cacia the coach of the year.

Watertown High School's successful fall season was recognized by the Boston Globe, which selected field hockey player Lauren Sutherland one of the players of the year and boys' soccer coach Frank Cacia as a coach of the year. Sutherland recieved the Div. 2 Player of the Year award from the Globe, and helped guide the Raiders to an undefeated season and Watertown's fourth straight state title. She never lost a game in her four-year career and the Raiders only had three ties. Next year she will play at Holy Cross, according to the Globe. Alyssa Carlson, co-captain for the field hockey team, also made the Globe's All-Scholastic team. She played defense for the Raiders, and also contributed to the four straight state titles four.
