Watertown Native Passes Sword of Command of 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing

Sgt. Maj. Susan M. Bellis stepped down from command of the air wing stationed in Cherry Point, N.C., and plans to retire from the Marines.

  Watertown-native Sgt. Maj. Susan M. Bellis relinquished the post of 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing recently at a ceremony held at the Marine Corps Air Station in Cherry Point, N.C. Bellis passed command to Sgt. Maj. Christopher G. Robinson, and she plans to retire on March 1, after more than 30 years of active service, according to a report from DVIDS - Defense Video & Imagery Distribution System.  Bellis credited the Marines and sailors of the unit for their work. In the case of 2nd MAW the focus is on getting aircraft in the air so they can support troops on the ground. “I just want them to know that before I got here, I came from [Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center] Twentynine Palms where I worked for two infantry generals,” Bellis said…
