The following information was provided by the Watertown Republican Town Committee: The Watertown Republican Town Committee (RTC) proudly announce that Elizabeth Mahoney our State Committee Woman and associate RTC member, has been elected by her fellow State Committee members to be a delegate at this summer’s Republican National Convention in Tampa. A life-long resident of Belmont, Elizabeth currently works for a non-profit called “Friends of the Public Private Partnership for Justice Reform in Afghanistan,” the President of which is former Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey. The organization’s objective is to train Afghan attorneys in the rule of law so they can improve and strengthen the young democracy the United States has helped the Afghan people …

The former school committee member defeated long-time incumbent Robert Semonian. He's one of several new members of the Republican State Committee.
Watertown's Steven Aylward said a group of hardworking supporters who seek to bring the Republican Party back into prominence in Massachusetts helped him win the election for the Republican State Committee Man in the Second Suffolk and Middlesex District. The former School Committee member received 2,329 votes in Tuesday's election and defeated long-time incumbent Robert Semonian, also a town resident, who got 1,787 votes in the district that includes Watertown, Belmont and parts of Boston. Robert Semonian seeks reelection to the Massachusetts Republican State Committee.
Watertown's Robert A. Semonian will seek another term as the Republican State Committeeman for the Second Suffolk and Middlesex district, which includes Watertown, Belmont and parts of Boston.
