The Watertown Police caught the man with items from a number of stores at the Arsenal Mall.
A man with several items stuffed in his jacket tried unsuccessfully to ride away on his motorized scooter, but he was stopped by Watertown Police before he could leave the Arsenal Mall. On April 11 at 8:41 p.m., Employees at the Sports Authority saw the man shoplifting and called police, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. The also told police he was seen reaching for his waistband as if he had a weapon. The man left the store and was seen getting on a motorized scooter, Lawn said. "Officers approached the man outside the mall and ordered him to get off the scooter and he would not," Lawn said. "He was trying to flee the area and but officers knocked him off the scooter." A suspected shoplifter pulled a pair of scissors on a store manager who chased him out of the store after he allegedly stole jewelry from the Almoda Jewelers store in the Arsenal Mall. Watertown Police responded to the mall at 6:28 p.m. on Nov. 25 when the store manager of Almoda called after being threatened by the shoplifter, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. "A man came into store and looked at sterling silver rings in store," Lawn said. "The manager recognized the man form prior shoplifting incidents in the store."
