Tim Maslow of Strip T's made the short list of the top young chefs from New England.
Word of Tim Maslow's notoriety for his culinary creations has spread beyond the Boston area and the chef at Watertown's Strip T's has made the Food and Wine magazine's list of top new chefs in New England. Maslow told the magazine that he grew up working in his father's restaurant on School Street in Watertown, then he went off to study cooking at the French Culinary Institute in New York. After working in restaurants in the Big Apple, including David Chan's Momofuku Noodle Bar and Momofuku Ssam Bar, he returned to Watertown and took over the kitchen at Strip T's and totally chagned the menu. One of the top dishes at Strip T's is chicken wings in Moxie Sauce - made with Moxie soda, Maslow told the magazine. One item that remains from the…

The restaurant, run by chef Tim Maslow, has caught the attention of diners and critics from around Boston. This small, independent restaurant has thrived on School Street in Watertown for 25 years, and now it's upgrading its offerings with a new chef from the Big Apple.
Despite its name, Strip T's, at 93 School St. in Watertown, is neither a steak house nor a sports bar (although it does serve steaks, homemade beef kielbasa and gourmet burgers). By day, it's a popular lunch spot (and light breakfast, too), with a varied menu of salads, hot and cold sandwiches, burritos, and pita roll-ups. After 5 p.m., it becomes a real restaurant, with a new menu created by a chef from New York City, and beer and wine. What to eat: With its new chef, the lunch menu has been "ungraded," according to owner Paul Maslow, with offerings like fresh-roasted turkey and breads now coming from the local bakery Iggy's. But it's the dinner menu that has been transformed, according Maslow, with what he calls "fine dining at …
