Arrests May 13, 10:06 a.m.: A man was spotted by store security taking items off the shelves of the natural food aisles at Stop & Shop on Pleasant Street and stuffing them in his jacket, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. The man was stopped and had $95.94 of merchandise, Lawn said. Wenji Peng, 49, of 9 Broad Moor in Glastonbury, Conn., was arrested on a charge of shoplifting by concealing merchandise. Arrests May 8, 9:09 p.m.: Security at Stop & Shop on Watertown Street spotted a man concealing groceries and when they confronted him he dropped the items and ran out the door, said Watertown Police Sgt. Thomas Grady. The items were worth $70.16. Police later located him on Pleasant Street and placed him under arrest. Matthew Edward Zappala, 30, of 138R Main Street in Watertown, was arrested in on a charge of shoplifting by asportation. Arrests May 3, 1:01 a.m.: An officer patrolling in Watertown Square spotted a car on North Beacon Street make an erratic turn against the light and when the officer pulled the vehicle over a strong odor of alcohol was detected on the driver's breath, said Watertown Police Sgt.
