Arrests May 8, 9:09 p.m.: Security at Stop & Shop on Watertown Street spotted a man concealing groceries and when they confronted him he dropped the items and ran out the door, said Watertown Police Sgt. Thomas Grady. The items were worth $70.16. Police later located him on Pleasant Street and placed him under arrest. Matthew Edward Zappala, 30, of 138R Main Street in Watertown, was arrested in on a charge of shoplifting by asportation. Arrests May 3, 1:01 a.m.: An officer patrolling in Watertown Square spotted a car on North Beacon Street make an erratic turn against the light and when the officer pulled the vehicle over a strong odor of alcohol was detected on the driver's breath, said Watertown Police Sgt. Thomas Grady. Field sobriety tests were given and an arrest was made. Arrests March 30, 11:44 p.m.: A Lexington St. resident heard a bang and when he came out he found that someone had hit a parked and unoccupied car, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn.
