Hilltop Road home broken into, man stole laptops from Bentley University and man's iPhone stolen on Galen Street.
The following arrest information was supplied by the Watertown Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction. Arrest April 2, 5:01 p.m.: A caller reported a driver who was possibly drunk, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. A man approached the caller while he was playing basketball at a park in Newton. The man asked if he could play and he seemed intoxicated. The man followed the 2005 Nissan Exterra to Pleasant Street. When police arrived they detected an odor of alcohol on the man’s breath and performed field sobriety tests. Officers found an open bottle of vodka in the man’s car. John P. Police responded to an argument in the street and one of the men would not go quietly.
A 24-year-old Watertown man faces two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after he allegedly kicked two police offices when they attempted to arrest him. Police were called because two men were arguing loudly at the corner of Sawin and Cottage Streets at 2:17 a.m. on April 7, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. One of the men was identified as Trevor C. Powell. "Both were intoxicated, and when police arrived Powell became beligerent," Lawn said. "He was screaming at them, calling them obscenities. The pair allegedly stole a car in Boston, used it to shoplift in Framingham and left it in Watertown.
A stolen car found in Watertown linked two men to a shoplifting incident in Framingham. On March 20, a car was towed from a parking lot on Waverley Avenue, and it ws discovered that the car had been stolen from the Double Tree Hotel on Washington Street in Boston, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. Police checked the car and discovered the car was caught on video of two men who were wanted for taking several Red Sox shirts from the Target store in Framingham. After linking the car to the suspect, police went to Waverley Avenue on March 21 to arrest John J. Sallesa Jr., 43, of 55 Waverley Ave. Apt. 301, in connection to the stolen car, Lawn said. The man had recently been fire by Munro Mufflers, and allegedly took several cases of oil and some brake rotors.
The manager of Munro Muffler on Arsenal Street discovered several missing items and suspected a recently fired employee may have taken them. The manager contacted Watertown Police on March 17 at 8:33 a.m., after he found that six cases of oil, other oil products and four brake rotors went missing, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. “We received information that the items might be at another business,” Lawn said. “An employee (at the other business) said he bought the items from the employee who was terminated.” The total value of the items was $1,290, Lawn said. Police summonsed a 53-year-old man from Holden to Waltham District Court.

Police caught man with an item from 7-Eleven, also tried to sell a stolen CD player.
A Medway man faces shoplifting charges after allegedly taking items from 7-Eleven on March 14. A 7-Eleven employee spotted a man with a CD player in a package, but it did not appear to come from the story. He was seen in the cell phone accessories area and then left the store, only to come back and take and item and put it into a paper bag and leave, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. “Officers found the man in Andrea’s Pizza attempting to sell the CD player to an individual,” Lawn said. Police found a power cord from 7-Eleven worth $19.91, Lawn said. Smoked filled the apartment and crept into the hallway of the apartment building.
The sounds of fire alarms woke residents of a Main Street apartment building early Thursday morning after someone left food on the stove without turning the burner off. The call for the smoke in the building at 245 Main Street, at Whites Avenue, came in just before 3 a.m., said Watertown Deputy Fire Chief Tom McManus. “Food caught on fire on top of the stove,” McManus said. “The person fell asleep and (the burning food) charred the apartment with smoke, in addition to getting into the hallway.” Watertown Police officers arrived first and began evacuating residents on the second floor of the building, where the fire occurred, McManus said. The man allegedly stole a savings card from Town Hall after being spotted looking through a dentist's office.
Police arrested a Newton man who allegedly stole a savings card from the bag of a Watertown Town Hall employee on March 6. Earlier in the day, Police got a call about a suspicious man who went into a dentist's office on Main Street, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. "Officers spoke with a receptionist who observed a male pacing in the waiting room and then entered the door into the dental area," Lawn said. "She found him in one of the offices looking through items on a shelf. She confronted him and he stated he was looking for a bathroom." Police stopped the two men near the MDC Pool when they were preparing to steal spools of wire.
Two men's plan to steal copper wire was foiled by an alert officer who spotted them near the Dealtry Pool off Pleasant Street. The electrical supervisor of construction of apartments at 140 Pleasant Street called police on Feb. 22 at 7:47 a.m. when he discovered that someone tried to steal 14 spools of copper wire from the site, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. "They were secured with a lock and chain. They cut the chain and lined them up in the back of the site," Lawn said. "Each spool weighed 300 pounds." The spools were not taken, however, because an officer stopped two men near the Dealtry Pool when he noticed some suspicious activity, Lawn said.
