The following information was provided by the Watertown Republican Town Committee: On January 31, 2013, the State Committee once again will vote to elect a third State Chair in a since 2009. Save a few bright spots, the MA-GOP has suffered consistent electoral defeats and shrinking party registration for decades. Hence we find ourselves at an important crossroad. The single most pressing question for the State Committee is whether or not to continue the same old failed policies that allows one high profile candidate at the top of the ticket to install his or her person as Chairman of the State Party. GOP candidates for the Massachusetts House of Representatives and State Senate gathered in Watertown on Monday night.
The Republican hopefuls running for state representative and state senate stressed the need to make Massachusetts more business friendly and to cut spending by the Legislature, during a candidates night in Watertown. The GOP candidates met supporters Monday night at a meet the candidates event at the Marine Corp League's Shutt Detachment. Steve Aylward of Watertown, who recently was elected Republican State Committee Man, said he wants to stress the values of the Republican Party. The Watertown Republicans threw their support behind Steve Aylward for the position that helps decide the party's priorities and direction in Massachusetts.
The Watertown Republican Town Committee unanimously voted to endorse Steven Aylward for the position of Second Suffolk and Middlesex State Committeeman. Aylward faces Watertown's Robert Semonian, the incumbent, for the position of Republican State Committeeman and the election will take place during the Massachusetts Presidential Primary on March 6. Robert Semonian seeks reelection to the Massachusetts Republican State Committee.
Watertown's Robert A. Semonian will seek another term as the Republican State Committeeman for the Second Suffolk and Middlesex district, which includes Watertown, Belmont and parts of Boston. By the way, I see that the Democrats are having a caucus for their convention. I will not be making negative comments about Steve Owen (who I happen to like).
